Federico Fellini Film Festival 2020- Brochure

Fellini was a flamboyant Italian master whose creativity has left an indelible mark on film history. This Italian film director, who was born on January 20, 1920, in Italy, was one of the most acclaimed and unique filmmakers of the post-World War II era.

Early in his career, he was influenced by the neorealist movement. By fusing dream and reality, autobiography and fantasy Fellini also established a category of psychoanalytical cinema. During the 1960s Fellini’s work became increasingly surrealistic.

The director was also a talented visual artist who relied heavily on drawings in his work. Fellini himself appears as a miniature figure in some of his caricatures.

"Federico Fellini Film Festival 2020" brochure is the outcome of Publication Design project with an objective of promoting a retrospective film festival that revolves around the Italian film master.

The concept behind the brochure was to merge themes from Fellini's life and vision into the design. It exemplifies Fellini's cinematographic range (from minimalism to complex compositions, from realism to surrealism, in terms of technique), and his illustration style. Van de Graaf canon forms the key layout of the brochure.

To break the Van de Graaf layout's monotony, a few pages display the timeline format for the Films & Awards sections. The black-and-white pattern from the previous pages was broken by the red background.
