Bloody hills

Landet med de blodige bakker is a novel written by Pablo Hamburger about the Rwandan genocide and it translates as 'The land with the bloody hills'.
In 1994, for around 100 days, members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group were slaughtered by armed militias led by the Hutu group, after the bizarre assassination of the country's president. The total death toll is still unknown, but the most widely accepted estimates are reaching 1 million victims of gun and machete attacks.

I've been approached by Lindbak + Lindbak - a publishing house from Denmark - to illustrate a striking cover for the book, combining militia members and bloody machetes with the unforgiving look of the Rwandan people.
