Dual Drama- short comic

Fresco
This is a small character design/short comics zine project I did for my college examination. Hope you like it :)

Concept note:
As a kid, the evening playtime was pure joy to me. It allowed me the freedom I craved and gave me the opportunity to feed my imagination. While I was a curious child that never balked from adventures, I also used to get scared and panic very easily when things went even slightly wrong or not as I planned.
This short comic “Dual Drama of Ami and Rosh”, is a telling of one such incident of a very young me and her friend, that is visualized from a slightly different perspective with a tone of fun and drama. The perspective is me looking back at my younger self and noticing the flair for drama that I had, an inclination to make everything “special” or mean something beyond the ordinary. Hence, I am the filter that the audience sees young Ami through, observes her energy. They also see Rosh, Ami’s friend as the companion who hesitantly goes along with all of Ami’s wild ideas of adventure an often is the one to take care of Ami when she gets scared.
I have tried to put a comedic spin to the story through the expressions and exaggerations of posture and action, in order to convey the narrative’s “drama”. I struggle with shadow and light and for this project I have tried to convey the different times of the day the best of my capability at the moment, although I do look forward to studying and learning more about qualities of light and shadow to improve my abilities.
