The brief for the project was to create a narrative inspired by our childhood - I worked on an illustrated zine, in which I visualized and expressed my experiences with bullying; aesthetically, I was inspired by risograph and screen printing techniques.
A question I kept coming back to was that of why I created this; like many artists, I hoped that my story would resonate with those who've had similar experiences. However, I came to realize that project is more for me than anyone else - I have never felt comfortable talking about being bullied and I doubt I ever will, but this project is an attempt at confronting that fear, as I know it’s the only way to move past it.
