Typographers Series Project for ART 314: Typography
Each week, we were given a specific type designer from OR a link to choose our type designer from. I decided to mimic shipping labels for my project. The simple black and white color palette allowed for me to utilize different shapes that control where the eye is meant to go.
Design Challenge:
"For this project you will be required to research the given type designer and become familiar with their work. Using your design & layout talents, you will create an informative 8.5x11 poster portraying the designer and what they are known for."
Objective: This project is designed for you to become familiar with typographers, hand-letters and designers who have used these iconic type families. The project will help you:
- Gain understanding of the history of where type came from & how it was developed
- Gain experience working with the type family.
- Learn the letterform, its structure and benefit.
- To develop awareness & understanding of the relationships b/w type and layout.
- Continued development of research skills.
