Tanner Brothers Packaging Refresh
I was approached by Tanner Brothers, a family owned dairy farm in need of an update to their current ice cream packaging. The old container was dated, and because they were switching to paper containers and printing, there was a lot more room for added detail and colours compared to the old print process.
The client emphasized they wanted to keep the majority of the content and layout the same and just to freshen it up.
Since there were no old artwork files to work off of, I had to rebuild the artwork from scratch. I started with roughly tracing the current container with some tracing paper to get a flat layout.
In Illustrator, I did a mix of image tracing and redrawing the artwork from photos of the physical container. It was a messy process and looked something like this.
The final product was full of texture and added visual interest. I enjoyed working with a limited colour palette to keep an old-timey feel while upgrading the design.
Thanks for stopping by!
