Cartagena Film Festival Fanzine

Fanzine for an event
Editorial design /Diagramation / Graphic Composition

"Cartagena Film Festival 2021" is an editorial design project that arises from a brief that seeks to develop an appropriate editorial device for communication regarding a set of information presented, in this case, the Cartagena Film Festival's schedule. In this way, a conceptual and editorial exploration is proposed and materialized through a fanzine (18 x 12,7 cm) designed for a type of user who needs clear information right at their fingertips and without losing the notion of the cinema in connection with the city that organizes the event.

- CONCEPT -

I decided to set a concept in which it is essential that the book is portable, not complex to read and easy to find the event´s useful data such as dates, hours and movie titles. That's why I chose a fanzine as the communication device, because for a type of programming like this it should not be an extensive reading. Its size also allows it to be easily stored and carried in the hand or bag, in addition to preventing it from being complex to open or fold.

Also, I chose a purple and fuchsia color palette, with additional touches of orange and yellow, inspired by the unique sunsets Cartagena city has and I connected this idea with a visual symbol that is present throughout the entire editorial piece: a movie film. This element is important because it is a resource that guides the users on their reading, while setting a visual identity to the project. Finally, I found the movie covers to be very valuable, so I decided to attach them to each movie title for the reader to easily connect with the information that is presented.
