You Are What You Eat
4 booklets that visualise Ludwig Feuerbach's sentence "a man is what he eats", in order to show the link between food, body and personal identity.
In a time where foodies are everywhere, I wanted to give my own interpretation to the food-mania. We are not eating anymore just because we need it. We are branding ourselves with food (think about eating disorders, for instance).
Each participant to the project sent me a picture per day of their principal meal over a week. They were then photographed and were left free to behave as they wanted in front of the camera. The photos of the meals revealed different eating habits, which are reflected in the way the person posed for the picture:
The Restaurant Aficionado
The Just Piece More
The Health Freak
The Protein Addicted
The torso of the subjects are laser cut to create the illusion of a food-shirt. Not only we are what we eat, but we wear it: we carry it with us wherever we go.
