A VANITY
In history of Art, a vanity is the representation of the brevity and ephemeral nature of life, contrasted with the infiniteness of time and space.

GRAVITY : A METAPHOR OF TIME
Assuming it is infinite, imagination is human's purest energy. Its inescapable antithesis is time. In this art installation, the floating skull evades the time, drawing a symbol of eternity. ANKOU explores the relationship between our contemporary society and ancestral symbols of the cycles of life, and what remains of these today in our modernity.
In this allegory, Ankou evades the first rule of Earth - gravity - and thus suspends time. Kept in a perpetual movment through an invisible force, Ankou floats in space and endlessly turns over his pedestal, free of the weight of any physical envelope and free from the time. As an invitation to meditate with him.
