Creative Process
This is the 3rd piece in my 'Consolations' series. I'm building a narrative and a world with each image. I tend to have a general idea for each image but I try not to work them up too much as I get the best results finding the image through creative trial and error.
Initial Idea
Sculpting
After the initial idea, I create the sculpt in Nomad Sculpt on the iPad Pro. My intention with these images is to suggest and distort familiar forms rather than create realistic anatomy. I experiment with the form until I feel it's right and frame and light for render.
Digital Painting Mock Up
In Procreate I then develop the concept ideas deciding how to proceed. You can see the difference in the initial mock-up below. There was a bandage and paintbrushes idea but it wasn't working for me. Also, I decided to remove the teeth and add roses for eyes etc I also was considering adding the then title into the image - that's why there are letters in the top right hand corner. I also rejected this approach when creating the final image
