Social Cards Concept

As an aspiring designer, I realise that it is important to promote yourself to the industry in order to get noticed. This is done through many ways but mainly aided by the use of social media and online portfolios. It is important to network in the industry and promote your identity as an individual and as a designer. This is where I developed the concept for social cards. Unlike normal business cards these are just dedicated to your social sites. There are already some clever business cards that make the use of QR codes. So I thought of a concept that combines the two in the form of social cards.

Social Cards would be used at networking events and designer shows, where a collective community can get together and share their passion and work. The code would take you directly to your twitter, LinkedIn or Behance page. Once there you can see the persons work and choose to follow them.

Most people own a smartphone or have a phone with access to the Internet, so this would be an effective method of communicating and gaining a following. Designers can exchange and keep these cards and maybe give them to other designers in order to spread the word.

When I went to New Designers in London, I saw lots of amazing work but never got a chance to meet some of the designers. Having the card placed below the artwork would be a clever way to find out more about the designer, follow them and view their work.
Most people may never look at a business card, or may just forget about it. At an event, they can take or scan the card and will instantly see and follow your work. You can choose to give the cards out, or people have the option to scan it there and then.
