What’s cooking? Grafikmagazin 03.21
In this issue we focus on design projects that are related to food, cooking and gastronomy. So, what’s cooking in the design world? The restaurant Tantris in Munich was the first to introduce fine dining to a German audience. What made the Tantris special was not only its Haute Cuisine, but also its dedication to architecture and design. We talked to the owner and the executive chef about a new era and a great new corporate design, executed by Herburg Weiland. Food Designer Marije Vogelzang told us why she thinks that eating is a global language, we discovered a great identity for a burger hut in Saudi-Arabia and we found out what fine dining has in common with gherkins.
All this and much more awaits you in our Grafik+ section on »What’s cooking«.

Content
Socially responsible design, what is this? Linda Rammes has asked herself this question and design the online magazine Furore to give a voice to those who are underrepresented. In our photography section we take a look at young Chinese photography and our author Sylvia Lerch visited the last type founder in Germany.
In our Showroom we discovered that garbage trucks look quite sassy in pink, all you need is daring designers like Auckland studio Seachange. How well Street Art and illustration go together proves Studio SOGO from Den Haag and it’s always a pleasure to present the winners of the 100 Best Posters award from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

The cover
Food Design is usually associated with mouthwatering images or pleasant illustrations. For this issue we chose another approach and asked design duo SOGO to interpret the topic food in their own style. Not all is good when it comes to food production and consumption and so the Dutch designers came up with a rather sarcastic motive. The wrap-around cover is more punk than fine dining, but a pleasure non the less.
The illustration was printed on Pergraphica by Mondi, an uncoated paper in three different colours. What makes this issue special is a coloured edge. The black edges correspond with the illustration and make the magazine look like a solid block.
