CHIARO

Chiaro
The  grab bag has been inspired from fragmented leaves showing their intricate veins. The textile of the bag has been created using Abaca fibers sandwiched between synthetic fabric to secure them. The surface ornamentation is an amalgamation of abaca fibers embroidered and sandwiched, creating a harmony between the main structure and the cane handle of the bag.

MATERIALS
The  materials majorly used to create the bag are organic materials namely:
Cane - Handle
Abaca Fibers - Outer shell
Glass nylon - Outer shell
Cotton Satin - Inner shell
Canvas - Sandwiched in shells

SURFACE AND TECHNIQUES
The outer shell of the bag is an amalgamation of glass nylon and abaca fibers. These two surfaces are fused together using fusing sheet. The veins of the dried leaves are recreated using hand embroidered stitches like couching and fly stitch.

DETAILS
The bag has a seamless surface all over which is created by embroidered stitches. The cane handle is attached to the bag using the same embroidered stitches. These stitches pass through the handle where it has drilled binding points.

The bag was showcased at the Tokyo Designers Week  2013 http://www.tdwa.com/en/tdw/special/exhibition/school_ex.html
