Animal Farm Book Jacket Design

With accompanying collateral
The Animal Farm book jacket and collateral design includes: a book jacket, end pages, a set of three book marks, a table tent, and a coffee cup with a sleeve.
The concept behind this design was to take the dark and somber mood of the novel and communicate that through color, texture, and typography. I used a 100% recycled paper that had a brownish hue to show the dark mood of this story. I also wanted the marriage of the recycled paper and ink to show some rough textures that one might see or feel on a farm. The purpose of the hand lettering and hand inked illustration of the fence, was mainly an interpretation of what the lettering would look like if the animals themselves were to have drawn it out. In the story, the animals begin to take on human-like qualities and learn to read and write, which is kind of a scary thought, and I wanted that to show through the imperfect qualities in the typography.
