Prismatic Music Festival Identity - LGBTQI+

Conceptual Event: Prismatic Music Festival
The Brief:
Telecommunications giants Vodafone have been a long standing supporter of the New Zealand music scene. Sponsoring the annual New Zealand music awards and being directly involved with the NZ top 40 charts for a number of years.

They want to show this support by launching a new two day seasonal music festival.

Vodafone wants to use their multinational reach and global market to bring international artists to perform on the New Zealand stage. As well as showcase New Zealand as an exciting option for globally touring musicians.
The Solution:
Vodafone is also a big supporter of the LGBTQI+ community, especially within the workplace. They hold an annual “Global Pride Webinar to discuss current issues facing the community... and how Vodafone is able to provide support.” They support rainbow organisations and events throughout the year, including Pride, “...to really walk the talk in helping our LGBTIQ+ community.”

I want to take Vodafone’s involvement in the music scene, in combination with their work for the LGBTQI+ community, to propose a new two daymusic festival featuring queer-friendly artists from around the globe. This festival will showcase the creative talents and diverse identities of the artists within our community. I want to highlight safety and inclusion, encourage self-expression, celebrate diversity, and create an enjoyable experience for all.
The Name:

Prismatic
adjective
1. of, relating to, or like a prism.
2. formed by or as if by a transparent prism.
3. spectral in color; brilliant: prismatic colors.
4. highly varied or faceted: a prismatic existence.

The LGBTQI+ community is made up of individuals from countless different backgrounds, all coming together into a whole that is brilliant and spectral in colour; just like the rainbow symbol most popularly used for Pride. We are a community of highly varied and multi-faceted individuals, and we don’t have to fit into any one mold or label.
The Style:
My key style words were: Multi-faceted, geometric and vibrant.

I took inspiration from crystals and aura quartz. I tried out a sharp multifaceted look of a whole made up of various different planes, reminiscent of the LGBTQI+ community being made up of a spectrum of identities and expressions.
