"2020 아르코미술관에서는 안규철 작가의 작품 5점을 모아 <종이는 비행기가 되려고 합니다>(부제: 비행기는 종이가 되려고 합니다)전을 개최합니다. 1980년대 중반 부조리한 사회와 미술의 관습에 이의를 제기하는 소형조각으로 작품 활동을 시작한 작가는 1990년대에 개념적인 오브제와 텍스트 작업으로, 2000년대 이후에 건축적 규모의 설치 작업과 공공미술로 작업의 영역을 확장해왔습니다. 작가는 그중에서도 일상적 사물과 언어에 주목하면서 그것이 갖는 대안적 가능성을 모색합니다.
이번 전시에서는 일상적 의미에서 벗어난 또다른 가능성을 꿈꾸는 그의 작업 5점을 모아 보여줍니다. 이번 전시는 우리가 아무렇지 않게 보내는 일상에 물음표를 던지는 여정으로, ‘종이를 비행기로 만들어나가는’ 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스로 전시를 마무리합니다. 관객은 일상의 사물들이 꿈꾸는 모습을 발견하며 끊임없는 물음표와 느낌표를 마주하게 될 것입니다."

"At Arko Art Center 2020, we will collect 5 works of artist Ahn Kyuchul and hold the exhibition <Dreamed of Flying to Somewhere> (subtitle: Dreamed of becoming paper). Raising an objection to the absurd society and customs of art in the mid-1980s, the artist, who started his work as a small sculpture, has expanded his work to conceptual objects and texts in the 1990s, and to installation works on an architectural scale and public art since the 2000s. He especially explores the alternative possibilities of everyday objects have.
In this exhibition, five pieces of his work dreaming of other possibilities beyond the meaning of everyday life are collected and presented. This exhibition is a journey that throws a question mark into our casual lives, and concludes the exhibition with an audience-participating performance of ‘making paper into airplanes’. Audiences will be faced with constant question and exclamation marks as they discover what everyday objects dream of."
