This is a mini passion project that combines Lettering, Illustration & Character design.

It has 5 artworks included in it.

The story of the project is that there are 5 characters who has the basic elemental powers like fire, water, wind, earth & nature. They are the new generation of warriors and all of them are training hard to become masters of their respective elements, so that one day they can be strong enough to protect others. Each character is different, their personality is mostly same as how their element is.

So in this project my goal was to design a character with an elemental power and come up with a quote appropriate to the characters, and then lettering that quote to evoke an emotion on the audience.

At first I made a rough sketch of how I want the artwork to look, and here I also chose the quote " The Crimson Flames of Agnier " .

So basically the character is using a move associated with fire.

I also listed out some keywords relating to the character so that I can make the artwork relatable.

Then I started working on the character, made some sketches of the character and his accessories etc.

I did this digitally on the software Procreate on an iPad. 

After this I went on to finalizing the character and colored it.

This is Ren the fire wielder. He can control fire at will. He has the same characteristics as fire, short-tempered, determined etc. He lives in a volcanic region far away from everyone else in a place called Agnier. Also he is the powerful one among the 5.

Now to create the final artwork I made the basic sketch and then moved onto finalizing that.

I created the lettering and for the character, I changed it's pose. Then started creating the illustration and background elements. For the illustration I changed what I originally had in the basic sketch to this.

The same process was followed onto others.

First listed out the keywords and made the rough sketch of the artwork, then chose the quote " Embrace the flow, Sea Empress form ". Here the character is changing her form to a new one.

Made a rough sketch of the accessories and how the character should be. Since the character is changing her form to a new one and this forms increases her speed and I decided to make it as a mermaid, a warrior mermaid.

After that I went to finalize the character.

Marina, the one with water power. She controls water and she is a good fighter too. She is a calm minded person with lot of different forms like this one for example. This is her Sea Empress form that boosts her speed and stamina. She lives in an underwater temple called Aquadel.

Now to create the final artwork, made the basic sketch and started to build upon that. And then colored it, added highlights, shadows etc.

Started with making the rough sketch and chose one, and here I chose the quote " Ride the howling winds and soar high ". This is not something that the character says to use a move instead this is just a random saying that the character says, because he just loves to fly and fly...

Made the basic sketches for the character and his accessories, and finalized on one then started to build on that. And finally colored it, added highlights, shadows etc.

Max, the Wind wielder. He is the young one in the group and he likes to prank others. He is a bit modern than the others of the group. He is energetic and faster than others. He also has the ability to make clones of himself. And he lives in the clouds in a place called Claudia.

Took the basic sketch and moved onto creating the final output. I've include 3 versions of the character to indicate his ability to create clones.

Here also first started with making a rough sketch for the whole artwork, and I chose the quote " Earth Golem Awaken ". So this character has the ability to summon an earth golem that does everything his master says.

Made the basic sketches for the character and the golem, and then moved onto finalizing them.

Jack, the one with Earth power. He is a fat guy who loves the earth :)

He cares for everyone and has such a good heart. He lives in a far away mountain where no one can get to.

Moved onto creating the final artwork. Started from the basic sketch and then started building onto it to get the final output.

Started with the rough sketch of the artwork, and the quote I chose here is " Hear my call and bloom in full glory " which I later changed to " Hear me and bloom in full glory ". Here the character is using a spell that make the nature bloom in it's full glory.

I started with making basic sketches for the character and her accessories and then finalized it. Added color, shadows, highlights as well.

Lady Barrow, Soul of Nature. She controls the nature and she is the healer in the group. She is a calm, kind hearted person and love to help everyone. And she lives in the deep forest where no can get to.

Then I took the rough sketch and started to build on that, created lettering, illustration. And then colored it, added highlights & shadows and finalized it.

That makes all the 5 artworks in this series and I also created mockup versions of these as well.

Doing this project was great, I learned a lot of things. I did lettering before but it's the first time designing cartoonic characters. I know there are mistakes that need to be corrected and in the next project I'll try to do better than this. As for the first time doing this I think it went okay!
