HONOUR & PRIDE - Single Cover Design

The Life and Death of Mackenzie Kane is the title of this EP album which contains four tracks with four different cover design as they would be published as single in different time. The meaning of the title is about self-discovery, and each song represents a situation lived in Mckenzie.
McKenzie Kane is the person who is singing the songs, the concept is developed from his perspective. And McKenzie Kane is discovering his own path, his way to live and to love, and what is really important in life.

The visual style is mainly developed by illustration/illustrator to match the tone and mood of the music and lyrics. Particularly, I combined the image of statues from greek mythology such as the goddess of truth - “Aletheia” and aesthetic of Japanese Ukiyoe to become creative visual style.

The second track Honour & Prideexplores the feeling of frustration that comes from not pursuing your dreams. More precisely not pursuing your dreams because of someone else you love, when you don’t want to take a definitive step because you know there are negative consequences coming from that decision. It’s the transfor- mation of love in frustration and ultimately in hate.

This work is the first draft that's painted by Nihonga (Glue Painting or Eastern Gouache.)      It's a Japanese painting skill and similar with Ink Painting but the material is mostly from Colourful Mineral.

These two are the outcome through photoshop editing.
They both show the aesthetic and texture of Japanese Painting and create different mood.
