ESCAPISM
Lust for Light// Escapism is an immersive multimedia installation that refers to the moment when sentiments and thoughts escape from within us to take physical shape. Escapism is, at the same time, a digital ascension, a form of fleeing from reality, of seeking the illusory, the trancendance. It exceeds to transport us some place where most eyes meet level to the horizon. Between the sand and the stardust, there is a point in which the chaos of creation happens, thus provoking people to be big and loud and take up space.

The installation seeks for the audience to actively influence the energy in the room, take it in and transpose it in their life rather than adjusting to it. The holographic illusion is a manifestation of 40.000 tons of cosmic dust that falls on Earth every year. Most of the material we are made out of comes from exploded stars-some parts of us are as old as the universe itself. Knowing that people are made of 93% stardust, the specks of floating light represent fragments of existence.

This project is part of the artist's research that aims to find out how an encounter with an interactive digital art installation can become an immersive scene with the use of technology and illusion.
