    This project focuses on working in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, mainly impressions of the working centre and main market "Merkato", where you can find everything you need. This project focuses on working in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, mainly impressions of the working centre and main market "Merkato", where you can find everything you need. The whole market is divided up into special areas, where only one thing is produced: e.g. the food area, a metal processing area or a huge recycling area.
Another normal job in Addis Ababa is that of the shoe cleaners. Most of them are children or young men, mainly coming from south to Addis. Around five of the young shoe cleaners are working at the same spot during the day and afterwards they share a small room, where day live together like a family, far away from their parents. Daily income for them is around 2-3 €, while one shoe cleaning is about 4-10 EuroCents (1-3 Birr).
