Qutub Minar (Compound weaves)

Inspiration - Qutub Minar, New Delhi.

Initial paper concepts.
Pleats are woven using the double cloth technique to mimick the outer form of the minar.
A careful manupilation of the double cloth technique to weave pleats with one layer and plain fabric with the other layer at intervals.
A combination of pleats woven with both layers of the double cloth.
Patterns were derived from the relief inscriptions found on the surface of the minar and translated onto fabric using the extra warp technique.
Extra warp technique.
Woven textures were derived. 
Hand leno was incorporated to weave this surface along with extra warp technique.
Extra warp and extra weft technique.
