No Trespassing & Bill "The Oldest Barber in Cambridge"

While traveling back home, east from my current residence of Ocean City, Maryland, I pulled off into one of Maryland's oldest towns/cities nestled on the banks of the Choptank River. There i explored many a parking lot, crumbling brick buildings, and encountered too many "No Tresspassing" signs to count.

Reminded of the song "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie, it was unsettling to have the meaning of the words twisted in my mind. So much was off limits, but on my wander back to my old pickup truck, i heard a shout from a man across the street. "Hey take my picture" an elderly man with a crooked smile hollered.

Finally, something wasn't off limits. I was no longer trespassing. I got to meet one of the nicest men on the shore. When I asked his name, he responded with a smile overlapted by a roughly trimmed grey mustache, "I'm Bill, the oldest barber in Cambridge". My response was to offer to take a few shots infront of his barber shop.

"Well, you have no way to get the photos to me, so i guess now." Bill replied. To my sadness, I quickly thought "email" ... no, no... this guy doesn't have email. "I know, I'll mail it to ya!" I said.

With another crooked grin, Bill exclaimed "You'd do that?!"

"Sure, no problem." And I was able to capture a few portraits.

With a loose handshake and a couple "thank yous" from both of us, I wandered back to my pick up truck.

See you next time Bill!
