The Male Gaze (July 2021)

Works to process the Internet discourse surrounding women's obligation to wear bras and the censorship of female nipples - all reinforced by the male gaze.
These topics are still considered "taboo" by many. I attempt to absurdify and deconstruct this male-centric "discourse".
Many girls grow up getting wordlessly acquainted with the bra. Through time, questions such as "why must I wear this?" "who benefits from my covering-up?" faded into acceptance and familiarity. The woman's body is a site of political struggle and censorship, however - and instead of discouraging these questions, we should shout them back at the powers that reinforce these norms.
Without the sexualized gaze, there is no sexualization.
The Internet, where anonymity is promised, is a great site for the male gaze to exploit and police women's bodies.
I understand feminism to be the movement to reclaim women’s body autonomy and all that it produces.
Your body is your own!
