LIMITED EDITION DESIGN. DUREX

PART 1. ANALYSIS


Background
Durex is a brand of condoms and personal lubricants. The limited series idea is primarily based on promotion of the 60th anniversary of the first human flight into space. The concept, however, not only speaks about this vital historical step but also about cosmic feelings people can have with Durex.

Objective
Durex mission is to show to consumers that it is more than just a condom brand, as it looks to focus on “the emotional as well as the physical” aspects of sex. 

Approach
The brand is really open to trying new packaging styles and creative marketing campaigns. With such tools as illustration and bright appealing colours I aimed to create such a design that would be outstanding on the shelf among others and, equally important, would celebrate an anniversary of a big step for humanity. 


PART 2. ILLUSTRATION

The style of the illustration is deliberately "handmade", as if actually created with classic drawing materials. The texture refers to wax crayons which are fun and easy in usage. Just like Durex.

It was important to lower the degree of seriousness of the anniversary but still preserve its importance. Thus, the chosen colours are rather bright. The composition consists of stars, comets and planets, which refer to the range of sparkling emotions one can have with Durex.​​​​​​​
