This book is the output of the workshop "Word and Image" runned by Vanessa Price. It meant to demonstrate the manipulative power of words and images in visual communication. It questions in which ways meaning is formed
and how this influences and manipulates our way of thinking. Through the visual experiments, that were made,
different means by which words can anchor the signification of images, are observed.

The words and images shown here shall produce a certain narrative that can be interpreted in different ways and hence recreate each time an other story. The project aims to explore the processes and responsibilities within graphic design, the wider framework of communication and the roles of the makers and readers of visual messages.

Through the workshop , the relationships and tensions that exist within visual representation and the media,
are explored. As audiences become increasingly sophisticated in their reading of the visual landscape, a review
of the graphic designer’s role in the mediation of messages and information need consideration.
