Crater / 2012 smart watch
Crater' was inspired by the craters of the moon. The sunken minus shape in the back offers a nice grip and expresses soft feelings. The motif from one photo was established through a sketch. It was important to set the structure for realizing the minus shape.
I adjusted the design going through the stage of drawing and 2D rendering. For the prepared two and three concepts, rendering was performed, based on various ideas and directions, and I designed it liberally to be symmetrical, asymmetrical, circular and square.
Crater' is a smart watch to interact with a phone. Over time, the size of phone would get bigger, and more functions would be provided by watch and accessories in the future. It is made of plastic and tempered glass and is SF-finished. In addition, the magnet inside helps to assemble accessories.
Crater' is a front touch type and user can control various features using the side button. It can be also charged through the earphone hole, and the magnet inside makes it easy to assemble accessories. It consists of five pastel colors, and the surface is SF-finished. The front finished with curved glass adds a sense of unity to the form.
