I travelled to Myanmar in late 2012 shortly after Aung San Suu Kyi had been elected as an MP for the National League for Democracy (NLD), in the all too brief period of openness when the population was optimistic for their future after years of military rule.
The landscapes were gorgeous and the people friendly.
Unfortunately, the military deposed her in a coup d'état in 2021after declaring the 2020 elections, which the NLD won, fraudulent. Violent protests erupted and as of late 2021, the country is on the brink of civil war with thousands of civilians arrested, tortured or fleeing for their lives.
All pics taken on a Fuji X-Pro1 camera with legacy Nikon F lenses and an adaptor. At the time I'd just bought the Fuji body & didn't have the money to buy lenses as well.
