This project was designed to provide functionality to an existing, tired kitchen of an urban apartment, in a joyful country style. Without tearing-down walls, a new S-shaped layout was created, adapted to the room’s openings, doors and window.

The design, was formed as a continuous working area, in order to suit the sequence of the activities carried out there: storage, preparation, cooking, washing, serving and eating.

All the old cabinets were removed and replaced by new ones from IKEA. Custom-made, lacquered beadboard doors, in a pastel sage green color, were placed, paired with semi-round plywood handles, solid pine wood countertops and shelves, adding cosiness and a play kitchen’s vibe.

The floor was covered in matt wood look tiles, whereas the backsplash in white, gloss ceramic ones, in a subway pattern with a light-ochre colored grout. The wall and ceiling were painted white.

A large, double, apron-front ceramic sink, was positioned facing the window. A chimney style extractor hood was installed, as well as new built-in appliances: fridge, cooktop, oven and dishwasher, ensuring the consistency of the space. <
