Letterings on Famous Brands
A 2021 personal project to explore letterings and illustrations on famous brands
Google
I just love Google’s colors and I had so much fun doing this. For this design, my idea was to create movement of people that looks like they are celebrating, inspired by the Google Doodle homepages that commemorate a holiday or significant event around the world.
Facebook
Second brand I pick is Facebook which I enjoyed creating. My inspiration is about Facebook interactions and sharing of love and laughters to friends and families even when apart. Despite being away from each other, Facebook has made us feel connected and closer than ever.
Apple
I watched the Apple 2021 product launch in Youtube and I was so inspired by the creativity the team behind it put out to make an awesome presentation. I was so inspired that I dedicate my 3rd artwork to Apple.
Samsung
I like Samsung’s marketing especially in Korea. They know how to make you buy a product by investing on product features in Kdrama. My idea for this illustration is to create a calm yet strange feeling that you can only get during the evening. Maybe because I associate the word “Samsung” with evening melody that you get when you explore a magical forest which reveals its secret in the night. haha I don’t know why but I hope someone gets me.
Uber
I miss Uber and it’s so sad they stopped their business in the Philippines. I chose Uber because I miss the brand.
The letterings on the initial sketch is different from the final output. I opt to make it chunkier and not in cursive since I want to make the illustration more modern and futuristic.
Netflix
My lifesaver this lockdown! This artwork is a tribute to Netflix who kills the boredom in this pandemic. This artwork is inspired by the Oppas in Netflix Kdramas that make my heart flutter. I love chunky letterings and the illustrations are inspired by the colorful lanterns of Seoul.
Snapchat
Ofcourse, Snapchat is on the list! I remember having tons of fun doing stickers for this brand and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity given to me! The lettering is modern, fun and whimsical. For the background, I wanted to feature different races of people that you can interact in Snapchat.
The initial sketch is different from the final artwork. My initial idea was about social media party but since I did not have the mood to do it, I changed it to a much simpler one by doing people illustrations.
Microsoft
Last on my project is, Microsoft, a lifelong companion who has been part of my childhood. This illustration is inspired by the Microsoft apps that have been a huge help to me while I was still studying.
