The Northern Australian Blue- Winged Kookaburra

Blue-Winged Kookaburra
The Northern Australian Kookaburra with its mad-looking white iris and insane-sounding calls. Slightly smaller than the Laughing Kookaburra, with a slimmer body, larger head and an even more massive bill.

Voice:
often gives territorial calls, starting with staccato throaty notes and building to a climax of hoarse yok-yok yok QUOR QUOR QUOR calls.

Common in open Eucalypt forest and woodland in tropics and subtropics, especially those near wetlands, and farms with remnant vegetation. Behaviour similar to Laughing Kookaburra, though tends to be more shy.
