HERITAGE & ARCHETYPES IN DESIGN
In design I am inspired by powerful psychological, symbolic elements to givng a common soul to information and data. Heritage and Archeyptes are part of our collective consciousness that embed deep footprints of our thinking, desires, values and emotions with a high resolution of meaning. My attempts have been at an intuitive level, where various relationships between heritage and archetypes have been unraveled by hands on experiments.
Sonic Archetypes in Mainstream Indian Cinema (2008-9) was an entirely self initiated semester long project at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad that experiments with archetypes. From 2014-2016 I have been active in events organized by the Euopean heritage remix-reuse facilitated by Europeana(EU) and Avoin Glam (Finland). Both heritage and archetypes can be powerful symbols that offer a alternative organizing principle for media, information and (meta)data.

Art Research Proposal 2008
My first self initiated heritage remix project was with Archetypes. I sampled over 100 movies from 4 decades, to experiment with 'Sonic Archetypes in Mainstream Films' in film sound scoring, and various moving images. The archetypal principles of narrative sound (organized alongside 9 principle types) became the base for a "universal sound scoring" device.
