Moswada Writing Camp

Moswada Writing Camp
6 BAB SHARQ Art & Cultural Space

Overview:
“Moswada” Writing camp is a three weeks collective that aims to give participants the space to work on their stuck writing projects. The first round of "Moswada" camp took place in Siwa Oasis in November 2020.

From this point, the media coverage plan work on documenting the camp activities based on three main notions: The experience of writing, connecting with nature, and self-exploration.

The main philosophy of the plan is to find a mid-ground between the professional coverage and artistic experimentation implemented by the media team members who are emerging artists themselves; the camp was a space for participants and media team to develop and share their artistic practice in an experimental environment.

Concept:

- The Experience of Writing:
During the camp, all the participants share their reflections on their own work and how do they feel about writing as a process. Based on these reflections, the media team produced their documentation to emphasis the ups and downs the writers gone through while developing their projects.

- Connecting with Nature:
Siwa Oasis as the location for the camp gave a chance to the participants to connect and blend with nature as a source of inspiration and tranquility in order to help them developing their projects. Media team members focused on how participants are affected by nature which was translated into artistic decisions such as:
1- No Use of Artificial lights
2- Showing participants side by side with elements from surrounding nature in most of photographs and video footages
3- Building a color scheme and visual mood that is inspired from nature

- Self-Exploration:
The participants had the chance to explore more about their own core regarding their writing craft and personally; while unlocking their creativity they went through times of excitement, passion, fear and enlightenment.  Media team work on connecting personally with the participants, document their process of self-exploration and tailor their work using the elements of visual storytelling to emphasis the participants’ stories via the compositions and the color mood of photographs and Video footages.
