Muse is a new typology of furniture that provides an elegant solution to distracing environments by embedding noise-cancelling speakers (similar to headphones) in a device that can be easily attached to most office chairs. It creates an acoustic zone around the user in which noise is cancelled, resulting in a more conducive working environment and a quiet refuge from your hectic environment.
In today’s working society, we see a trend of companies adopting an open office concepts in a bid to improve collaboration amongst workers and increase productivity. However, this may have unintended negative effects if implemented wrongly, as open offices are much more permeable to sound, resulting in a noisier workplace and ironically decreases productivity. Workers now need a calm space for them to focus on their work more than ever.
Muse is a seamless experience. It does not require complex interactions or tweaking as it simply performs noise cancelling on an individual level at the users’ ears.
Muse is powered electrically and can be charged via USB cable from the back of the chair. Muse has a low power consumption due to the utilization of small piezo-electric speakers & microphones typically found in mobile devices.
Infrared receivers on Muse allow different units to communicate with one another with the appropriate cancelling performed, allowing for a collaborative environment between coworkers even in a noisy environment.
