Marine Corps Historic Half Environmental Design

The Marine Corps Historic Half pulls from the rich colonial history of it's host city of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Colonial images such as an early American flag and colonial signs appear repeatedly throughout the course. The statue depicted in the 13.1 image is the Hugh Mercer statue located in Historic Fredericksburg, a highlight of the course, and is in honor of the Revolutionary War hero.

Hospital Hill is the challenge of the course. Participants run the mile-long hill alongside Mary Washington Hospital's emergeny room facilities. The motivation scrim was new to the 2014 event weekend and sponsored by Mary Washington Healthcare.
