Distilling Water (Wyming Brook)

"Listen to the river, does it make you wonder how anything could ever stay still ?"

It's an attempt to capture the fleeting form of water on it's journey around the earth passing through this beautiful place on only a tiny part of it's journey. The water in these images is constantly moving and in many ways each image is unique. As the water's pattern changes, colour varies and the rocks erode each few seconds presents a new potential for art.
Wyming Brook is a winding stream which quickly twists and turns it's way through a narrow gorge between the Redmires and Rivelin Reservoirs on the western edge of Sheffield.

This project is my attempt to represent and celebrate Wyming Brook, a place which has become the perfect photography playground to experiment and learn. The images here focus on the form of the water itself as it smoothly cascades or hurriedly crashes around rocks and obstacles.
Focusing on such a small extract of water can lead to appreciating the scale of our planet's eco system and how each tiny stream of water is interlinked on a global scale.
