'CHHOLIYA'
I used to get very excited whenever I saw Chalities in any occasion in my Village. These people dancing with colourful dresses and swords always grabbed my attention. This time I got a chance to get in between them with my camera and click their emotions and movements.
So what is CHHOLIYA ?
Chholiya is a dance form practiced in Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand. It is basically a sword accompanying a marriage procession but now it is performed in many auspicious occasions.This sword dance has a history of more than a thousand years and is rooted in the martial traditions of the Kumaoni People.
