Look into my eyes
Philipomyia aprica is a species of the family Tabanidae, commonly known as horse-flies. The insects with their striking big coloured eyes can be encountered in summer in high mountain usualy at an altitude of over 2,000 metres during the daylight hours, when they mainly feed on nectar of flowers (especially of Apiaceae species like in my pictures). Females attack mainly horses and cattle. They need the blood for reproduction.
