If your Tribute is a 4 cylinder with a manual transmission it can tow a maximum of 1000 pounds. If it is a 6 cylinder with an automatic transmission without the factory towing option it can tow a maximum of 2000 pounds, if it has the factory towing option it can tow a maximum of 3500 pounds.

With rugged good looks, a stout V6 engine, plenty of room for four adults and their luggage, and a sport-tuned suspension that works beautifully on pavement, the Mazda Tribute might be the ultimate small SUV.

If taken care of, any motor has the ability to run 200,000 miles or more before being refreshed or rebuilt. All motors can be rebuilt or refreshed and keep running almost indefinitely.

A small car manual could simply say towing is not recommended or list a CX7 max towing capacity. Most SUVs and trucks will have something like “do not tow anything over 3,500 pounds unless equipped with the heavy-duty trailer tow package.”

The engine/trans still has a lot of life left but the chassis it self doesn't. If you can find a cheap v6 tribute that isn't rusted, it will get you to point a-b hassle free & with the proper maintenance will last 200k miles like mine!!! Rating breakdown (out of 5): Comfort 4.0.

In most cases, trailer tents are relatively light, so it's likely your car will be able to tow one, but it's always worth checking, especially if you have a smaller car.
