Our design focus will explore the idea of breaking the boundaries (Sava River) that exist between the old and the new Zagreb and using the water as an asset to restore the relationship between the north and the south. Therefore, creating the new urban ecology that can serve the whole community of Zagreb.
Fun Zagreb is a vision for the area where people and ecology coexist in harmony. It’s built from a series of interventions centered around carved out bodies of water and green corridors, restored wetlands and long riverwalks that create space for growing, nurturing, and live-work hybridity. Current site functions are clustered with amenities within a smaller footprints. The new plan intends to expand that and bring in more functions and efficiency, making it a valuable resource for the city at large.

The idea of expansion of New Zagreb was introduced for habitation with public and commercial contents. The revitalization of New Zagreb began in early 2000 with numerous projects that are either completed or still ongoing.
Without the managable way of defining the exact district, the road infrastructure became the definer of existing district boundaries and lacking of connection to the river.
Sava River represents Zagreb in ecological and cultural way. However, there was no opportunity to interact with Sava River.

The exisiting districts are defined by the infrastructure, creating a clear boundaries from one district to another. Instead of creating another separation, we took the pre-existing
district boundaries and its purpose and redefined them along with the addition of water
and green infrastructure to the site. Here we propose eight new districts in which each district will have a focal point and unique characteristic but at the same time the hybridity of the programs throughout the whole site will stitch all the district as one Fun Zagreb.
