For 8 months across 2011, I co-lead the ‘OneNike+’ product team at R/GA as its Visual Design Director. We were tasked with one goal: make life a sport — for everyone. To pull this off, our team had to build the unifying architecture and design for the most sophisticated and open-ended digital sport ecosystem, ever. This new core framework would serve as the central hub for a new era of activity tracking data, visualization, context, competition, and comparison. To interconnect this digitally-enabled world where everyone can be an athlete, we created a universal sport language — NikeFuel — the central metric system of Nike+. Today, a baller in Shanghai can track and compare his activity to Manny Pacquiao working the speed bag, his girlfriend's uphill sprints, or his little brother's Xbox360 session.
