About the Project
As the final assessment for Michelle Douglas' CoLab class, we had to select and address a specific problem that resulted from the change in lifestyles during the covid-19 pandemic. Our team of 5 initially considered focusing on people's frustrations in relation to distance, proxemics and the lack of physical contact. As the topic was overly broad, our group decided to target its focus on students' experiences, particularly, the challenge of conducting group projects and presentations remotely and in a purely digital environment.
Design Concept
After a rigorous ideation and research phase that involved interviews, surveys and customer journey mapping, our team came up with the concept of a tool that would make group presentations more seamless and engaging for remote teams. We called the concept Prezilla.
Division of Workload
Our team divided tasks based on our personality types and our skillsets. All members contributed to the research, data collection and analysis as well as the ideation of concepts. I took on the role of graphic designer and UI designer (in collaboration with Shuangzhen Wang as she had drawn up the initial UIs). The team communicated their ideas for the brand identity and I translated them into the final brand identity. Harish Aravind and Jack Nicholson had done a bulk of the research and presentation flow. To give our project some edge, Jack, who was also our group's presenter, rendered a fantastic promo video that he presented at the end of out pitch.
Final Output
The final output consisted of a proposal deck designed using Google Slides, a digital prototype of the tool's UI using Adobe Illustrator and a promotional video.
