Travelling extensively throughout Ontario and Canada has awarded the unique opportunity to observe and study wildlife in its natural setting forartist Robin Crowder (nee MacLeod).
Born in Toronto, in 1967, Robin’s parents were determined to acquaint her with the great beauty of her native country rather than that of far off places, a gift she has developed into a rewarding variety of artistic interests and talents.
Having experienced nesting sites, sanctuaries, migration routes and habitats, ranging from the oceans to the treetops and beyond, she is best known for her special love of bringing to life birds and wildlife.
Robin’s pencil sketches of birds of prey are accurately detailed and beautifully shaded, capturing the essence and character of her subject.
A wonderful series of lithographs has emerged in this genre. She has also created very expressive sculptures, both representational and abstract. Broadening the spectrum into the medium of cast paper, her wildlife lends tremendously to the depth and concentration of musculature, form and freedom of motion.
