Natural wine refers to wine made without any additives. It is one of the traditional ways to make wine, and there is a growing natural wine movement. In other words, it is purely fermented juice made from grapes that haven’t been treated with herbicides or pesticides.

This modern natural wine movement is said to have started in rural France, where many winemakers formed a community and focused on organic production. One of the earliest natural wine tastings, La Dive Bouteille, was held in 1999, showcasing 15 winemakers and welcoming 100 attendees. Since then, this event has grown to incorporate hundreds of winemakers and thousands of attendees.

In the early 2000s, natural wine started making its way to Los Angeles and New York, and now it has found its way to most parts of the United States. In light of growing concerns about the environment and climate change, natural wine is becoming even more popular. Natural winemaking focuses on growing native grape varieties rather than changing crops depending on the market demands, which is ultimately a more sustainable practice.
