Today, globalization poses significant challenges to the survival of traditional forms of craftsmanship. In search of livelihood and lack of opportunities, rural artisans have abandoned their traditional crafts and migrated to city fringes; leading to the slow but sure death of the arts and marginalizing skill capabilities, along with many families struggling to make ends meet. This project was undertaken by me at Bagru, Jaipur as part of Graduation Project which aimed at designing new intricate blocks for DABU Mud Resist Block Print, keeping rich craft heritage alive, and to be a source for the re-learning and re-creating of the craft, that appeal to modern consumers. The collection development was undertaken at Mr. Lal Chand Derawala's workshop.
