A 9 Year Old Gaura's Character Diary

I recently uncovered this piece of my lost memory when going through my father's old books and diaries. As can be seen below, this particular diary belongs to the year 1990, according to the drawings and around the time I grew fond of signatures, I must have been around 9 (almost 20 years after 1990). I did not recollect that this phase of designing new people (mostly girls) started at such a young age. My brother reminded me as I was going through these pages that I had helped him in creating his signature too (one of which he uses officially to this day), that was much later though, when I was 14 or 15.

It is truly amusing how the path one's life takes can be traced back to these forgotten origins. I cannot exactly point my finger to the inspirations behind the heavy names quite beyond my years and surroundings but I most probably owe them to films and books I was obsessed with at the time (Barbie movies, hello!).

My personal favourite has to be the character Deline's hobby of 'doing nothing' and the writing I seem to have conceptually created particularly for her, as an attribute to her laziness. The coloured hair was probably a limitation of sketch pen shades available back then and in 2021's reality, is quite the quarantine fashion rage.

This blast from the past reinforced my vision of telling stories and the belief that this is something I have always been truly interested in.
