KULR is a personal exploration of colour and minimal forms through a fictional ceramic brand. With this piece, I wanted to create a bold brand film that mixed real world settings with abstract compositions.
KULR was designed in Cinema4D and rendered with Redshift - this project also utilised Quixel Megascans and Blender (for its UV features). The ceramic texture featured across the products was made purely using native Cinema4D noise types and was driven by the display colour of each object — this provided incredible flexibility when experimenting with the colour mix of the project.
As this wasn’t a client project, the process was very fluid. In this instance, the storyboard acted as a rough sketch of ideas rather than prescriptive direction for each shot. This allowed me to change course throughout my in-software experimentation and push each frame to its boldest conclusion.
A unique element of this project is the sound design. While this isn’t my area of expertise, I wanted to create the composition and sfx mix myself to take control of every element of production and also learn a new skill.
