Digital paining had been my focus for some time now, using a Wacom tablet with Paintshop Pro, or Procreate on the iPad. The following works are all predominantly hand painted (with some CGI)
Skyfire
2018
Digital Painting
Inspired by a photo of my wife frolicking in the surf and the strange skies we saw after the 2013 fires. And Dragons.
2019
Digital Painting
I did this one for an art exhibition themed around mental health. It explores the theme of the Virtual Hug.
2017
Digital Painting
I won first prize in the "Human Figure' section of the Regional Art Exhibition. I was very pleased to watch viewers having the 'aha' moment.
2014
Digital Painting
It started as a CGI scene... but the render engine just wasn't up to the task. The vegetation. The mist. The sky. The bow wave. So I started to paint in details. By the end, the whole thing had been reworked so much that it bears very little relation to the original CG project.
2020
Digital Painting
A friend texted me an 'oops' selfie. For my own amusement I vamped her up...
2019
Digital Painting
A commission for a friend. The figure is assembled from six separate stock photos. The background was painted using Procreate whilst waiting for a plane.
2011
Digital Painting
This was a very early digital painting. It is full of things I ought to re-do. People seem to like it, though.
2011
Digital Painting
My style evolved slowly as I learned to use the media.
