Every year, Valéry releases a Valérydesignwrks promotional piece to showcase her skills. It’s a chance to celebrate another year of making wonderful work for fantastic clients. But 2012’s offering was different. And far more personal. Her stepmother had just battled cancer. As a show of support, Valéry created this calendar.

Sometimes a bit of positivity can make a big difference. With colourful portraits, the piece served as a gentle message of encouragement to those living with the illness. She bound the calendar with black thread to evoke a feeling of hair loss. The thread also fastened the envelopes holding the calendars during shipping. When people opened their calendars, bright and hopeful illustrations greeted them. A little light for the year ahead.
