The remnants of my childhood

I don’t find abandoned objects inviting or fascinating. Quite the contrary, I found them icky and off-putting. So how come I did this project?
There is something so innocent about these objects, something sweet and playful. Maybe seeing them reminded me of that sweet time I played pretend with Barbie's house? Before furnished and lively, while now dislodged and emptied. The end of every era. The remnants of my childhood.

It’s another project I did with ceramist Chiara Casorati, on a cold but sunny autumn day. I could say it was a child's play, but as Bruno Munari used to say “playing is serious business”. We ran around her workplace’s courtyard chasing the light and looking for nooks with moss or grass. It had to be the right moss and the right grass. And of course, those places were the coldest. We invented stories with anything that popped in our heads, ate lunch on the ground in the sun and had fun. Perfect collaboration I dare say.

Do you play while you work?
