PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING, YET PERCEPTION IS NOTHING.  PERCEPTION THAT IS EXTERNALLY DRIVEN IS TRANSIENT, ILL-DEFINED AND OF LITTLE CONSEQUENCE.  YET PERCEPTION THAT IS INTERNALLY DERIVED LIBERATES AND TRANSFORMS THE CITY SKIN AND THEIR CITIZENS.
 
SHIFT THE LAYER AND REVEAL THIS INTERNAL FORM OF THE CITY.  LET’S PUT OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD AND TAKE THE STEPS IN REVITALIZNG AND RE-ENERGIZING OUR CITY SKIN.  WE MUST PRESENT A NEW SKIN THAT IS MOLDED FROM OUR NEWARK FORM OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY, NEW LEADERSHIP, AND OPTIMISM IN OUR LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
 
THE NEW SKIN MOLDS ITSELF AROUND THE HISTORY OF NEWARK.  THE LARGE EXHIBITION HALL WILL FEATURE NEWARK’S ROLE IN THE “MAKING” OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTS DURING THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.  GALLERIES WILL FEATURE THE HUMAN FACES OF DIVERSE ETHNIC BACKGROUND WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MOLDING OF NEWARK’S INFRASTRUCTURE, BUT ALSO ITS CULTURAL HERITAGE.  LET US ALSO CELEBRATE AND FEATURE NEWARK’S PRESENT AND FUTURE POTENTIALS, GOALS AND CITY CULTURE. 
 
LOCATED IN THE IRONBOUND DISTRICT, OPEN THE SKIN AND LET THE COMMUNITY TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF A NEW VENUE FOR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES.  THE BUILDING PROVIDES NEW SPACES FOR MEETINGS, GATHERINGS, AND CELEBRATIONS. 
 
THE NEW URBAN PLAZA OPENS ITSELF TOWARDS THE PROPOSED RIVERFRONT PARK CREATING AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT.  THIS MAY BECOME A NEW POINT OF INTEREST, FOR THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS NEW VISITORS TO NEWARK.  CREATE A NEW URBAN SKIN THAT SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATES INTO THE IRON BOUND BOTH PHYSICALLY TO THE CITY AND THE RIVER AS WELL AS INTO THE COMMUNITY.
